Going through different processes in the daily work within a road hauling company with some 40 employees (full time and part-time) and +30 different road vehicles – from vans over different truck combinations incl. tractor and semi-trailer. The company work with a range of different services; courier, moving, refrigerated cargo, general cargo of different consignment sizes to movement of semi-trailers. Operations are done both in regional traffic in the Copenhagen area as well as national and international traffic. A large part of the work concerns daily matching the vehicles and drivers with the different cargo in different contracts, on demand as well as combining different consignments types and sizes on the spot market.

The Interreg project Combine aims to increase the share of intermodal transport by improving the operation at terminals and reducing the costs of the last mile by introducing new solutions such as platooning, longer/heavier trucks, e-trucks, and LNG-trucks. Helena was responsible for analysis and interviews with various forwarders, in which the transport industry’s view of international freight transport in the Øresund region were analyzed.

Project manager for implementation of a major evaluation of the effects of the three-year modular road trains trials. The trial began in November 2008 and will run for three years. The surveys cover all aspects of the trial incl. the traffic, environmental, transport and financial aspects of the study. Evaluation, including both the original network, as well as the subsequent phases of the network, as new network parts are added throughout the trial period. The evaluation was carried out in cooperation with Grontmij-CarlBro, Glostrup, Denmark.

Project manager for Tetraplan’s part of “FREIGHTVISION – Vision and Action Plans for European Freight Transport until 2050”, an EU project under the 7th Framework Program. Responsible for the organization of 5 “FREIGHTVISION Foresight process” conferences with active participation of the European freight market players and stakeholders, and contacts with all stakeholders. In addition, responsible for identifying key demonstration projects, as well as description of a number of actions that formed the basis for a vision and action plan until 2050. Projects carried out with European partners and with AustriaTech – Austria as lead partner.

Tetraplan was project coordinator for a study of the future policy on trans-European networks, including the development of scenarios for infrastructure development in Europe for 2020 and 2030, etc. The project was carried out with eight European partners.
